What OrbitMemo is

OrbitMemo is a private place for one household to keep its calendar, lists, notes, contacts, projects, events, belongings, repair guides and budgets. You reach it through a browser at app.orbitmemo.com, and it can be installed on a phone.

It is not a bank, an accountant or a medical record. It stores what you type and the files you upload, and nothing else.

Your account and your household

You need an account to use OrbitMemo, and an account belongs to one household. The person who creates a household is its first admin. Admins can invite other people and choose what each of them may do.

Everything a household adds belongs to that household rather than to the person who typed it. If a member leaves or is removed, what they added stays. Their access ends immediately.

Keep your password to yourself, and turn on two-factor authentication if you can. We cannot tell an intruder using your password apart from you.

The vault, and what unrecoverable means

Vault notes are encrypted on your own device with a passphrase that never reaches us. We store the result and cannot read it. That is the point of the feature and it has a consequence you should read twice: if every member of your household forgets the vault passphrase, those notes are gone. We cannot reset it, recover it or help you guess it. Nothing else in OrbitMemo works this way, and the app says so when you set the passphrase.

What you may not put in it

Nothing illegal. We do not scan what households upload, and we have no automated system looking through your files. If we are told about illegal material, or a lawful request brings it to our attention, we will restrict access to it, preserve it as evidence and report it to the authorities. Anything involving children goes to the police and the relevant hotline the same day, without hesitation and without warning the account holder beyond what the police advise.

Do not use OrbitMemo to break into other people's accounts, to send bulk mail, or to store material you have no right to hold.

Paying for it

The first week is free and needs no card. After that a subscription costs $29 every six months for the whole household, and it renews automatically until you cancel.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, who act as the seller of record for the transaction. Your contract for the payment itself is with Paddle, and they handle billing, tax and receipts. We never see your card details. Paddle's own terms apply to the payment alongside these terms, and refunds are covered in our refund policy.

You can cancel at any time from inside the app. Cancelling stops the next payment and you keep full use until the end of the period you have already paid for.

What happens if you stop paying

Nothing is deleted. OrbitMemo becomes read-only: you can open every screen, read everything, and download all of it. What stops is adding new things. Subscribing again restores it, and everything is as you left it.

The same applies if a payment fails. We keep trying for about a month and nothing changes while we do, so an expired card is not an emergency.

Taking your data with you

One click downloads everything your household has entered, as spreadsheets any program can open. This works whether you are a subscriber or not. Photos and PDFs are listed with their names and sizes rather than included, and vault notes are listed without their contents, because we cannot read them. The app can download those separately while the vault is unlocked.

Storage

Each household has an included storage allowance for photos and PDFs. At 80% we tell you. At 100% new uploads stop and nothing already stored is touched or removed.

Ending it

You can stop using OrbitMemo whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@orbitmemo.com. Download your data first, because deletion is final.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks the rule about illegal material above. Short of that, we will not close a paying household's account without telling them why and giving them time to export.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work to keep OrbitMemo available and your data intact, with backups and point-in-time recovery. We do not promise it will never be unavailable, and we are not able to compensate you for a loss that depends on it. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, which the export button exists to make easy.

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer under Icelandic or EEA law.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page is when it last changed.

Which law applies

Icelandic law, and the courts of Iceland. If you are a consumer elsewhere in the EEA, this does not take away protections you have where you live.
